October is the busiest month on the Pokémon GO calendar, and New Orleans is a good place to play it — if you go out with a crew. Shorter days mean more of every event happens near dark, and night walking is exactly the problem our day job solves.

This guide covers what is on in October 2026 and how to play it in the city with other people. For the Thursday-by-Thursday version, get the weekend’s games by email at kreweofplay.com — every Thursday we list what is actually happening that weekend, and players find a crew in our Facebook group, Krewe of Play.

What is on: October 2026 events

Dates move, so confirm on the official event pages the day you go. What is confirmed as of this writing:

  • Hatch Day, Saturday Oct 17, 11 AM–5 PM: eggs hatch at half the usual distance. A walking event by design — plan a route, not a parking spot.
  • Max Battle Day, Saturday Oct 24: on the official save-the-date list; details announced closer to the day. Keep the day open and watch for the announcement.
  • Halloween event, Part I starts Tuesday Oct 27 at 10 AM: the year’s biggest themed event. Costumes, bonuses, and the most crowded lobbies of the month.
  • Canal Street Scavenger Hunt, through Oct 31: a separate real-world hunt — complete photo tasks around Canal Street for a shot at the $1,000 top prize. Pairs well with a GO walk downtown.
  • ALLAween Scavenger Hunt, Saturday Oct 24: the Krewe of ALLA’s city hunt is listed for 9 AM that day, with a golden-lamp prize tied to their 2027 parade. Re-check the krewe’s event page before committing — details have shifted before.
  • Beyond October: GO’s next city-scale event weekend lands in Singapore Nov 7–8. Worth watching for what city events look like now, even if you are playing from home.

How to play events in New Orleans with a crew

Hatch Day is the template: pick a loop with sidewalks and foot traffic — City Park, Audubon Park, the Lakefront, or the Greenway — and walk it together during event hours. One person watches spawns, one watches the time, everyone hatches more than they would solo.

For evening hours, keep it simple: stay in lit, populated areas, keep phones tucked between stops, and keep the group together. The French Quarter and downtown work in daylight; after dark, prefer the well-traveled loops and go home while the light lasts.

If you only play GO, try one new thing this month. Our ranked list of the best GPS and location-based games in 2026 has eleven options, and our Pokémon GO alternatives roundup covers what to play when GO is quiet.
