If you were just mugged, start here.
- Move to a safe location — a staffed building, open business, or lit public area with other people.
- New Orleans: Call NOPD non-emergency at (504) 821-2222, or 911 if the threat is still active or you are injured.
- Do not chase or confront the person who mugged you.
- If you are injured, call 911 immediately.
You are safe now. Everything else can wait.

File a Police Report — Even If You Think It Will Not Help
File tonight if you can, or first thing in the morning. Three reasons:
- Renters and personal property insurance requires a report number for theft claims on a phone, wallet, or bag.
- One report rarely shifts patrol coverage. Three on the same block do. NOPD adjusts deployment based on incident clusters. Your report is data in that system.
- If the person is arrested later for anything, your report becomes part of the evidentiary record.
Non-violent, completed crimes can be filed online at the NOPD Online Crime Reporting Portal at nola.gov.
Why Noonlight and Citizen Could Not Stop This
You may have had a safety app installed. Here is the structural reason it could not help:
10-page PDF: faction breakdowns, zone strategy, mesh tech explained. Yours free.
Noonlight requires you to hold a button, then release it to signal danger. Your phone must be in your hand, unlocked, with the app open — during a crime that typically completes in under 10 seconds. The button cannot be pressed if your phone is taken first.
Citizen shows you what happened nearby — after it happened. It is a crime-news feed. It has no mechanism to monitor your route or alert your trusted contacts when something goes wrong with you specifically.
Both are reactive. They require a deliberate action at the worst possible moment. The failure mode is not the apps — it is the reactive model.
What Proactive Human-Mesh Monitoring Does Differently
The layer that was missing is continuous route monitoring that works before anything happens — without requiring any action from you.

Tripwire Recon monitors your route and alerts your human mesh when your pattern changes unexpectedly. Your trusted contacts see your path and your expected arrival time. No button press required.
